Whitwick & Coalville Leisure Centre creates a new destination for health, wellbeing and community life in North West Leicestershire. Replacing the former Hermitage Leisure Centre, the development provides a welcoming, future-focused facility that encourages active lifestyles while strengthening connections between Coalville, Whitwick and the surrounding communities.
Developed for North West Leicestershire District Council, Whitwick & Coalville Leisure Centre replaces the former Hermitage Leisure Centre with a modern leisure destination designed to support healthier lifestyles for generations to come. Set within a landscaped parkland setting, the building creates a strong civic presence while improving connections between Coalville, Whitwick and the wider district.
Designed to maximise its relationship with the surrounding landscape, the centre combines natural materials, generous glazing and contemporary architecture to create bright, welcoming spaces throughout. The facility includes an eight-lane competition swimming pool, learner pool, 110-station fitness suite, group exercise studios, sports hall, squash courts, Clip ‘n’ Climb, spa facilities and café, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active.
Delivered five months ahead of programme, the project establishes a sustainable leisure destination that supports community wellbeing while responding to the long-term needs of North West Leicestershire.
